What is COVID-19?

COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus that was first identified in 2019. As of June 2019, there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19, but the virus is suspected to cause respiratory illness in humans.

As of this writing, it is not yet clear how COVID-19 infections are spread. However, like other coronaviruses, COVID-19 can be transmitted through coughing and sneezing. In addition, the virus may also be passed on through contact with respiratory secretions (e.g., saliva, mucus) from an infected person.

At this time, there is no specific treatment or vaccine for COVID-19 infections. However, early diagnosis and treatment with antiviral medications may help reduce the severity of symptoms.

If you are experiencing respiratory illness and have any questions about the COVID-19 outbreak, please contact your healthcare provider or visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website for more information.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), COVID-19 is a virus that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, shortness of breath, and chest pain. This virus can be deadly in some cases. As of March 2019, there have been 10 cases of COVID-19 reported in the United States. The CDC is working to determine the cause of this outbreak and prevent it from spreading further.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is warning health care providers of a new coronavirus, COVID-19, which has caused a global outbreak. As of July 29, 2019, there have been 36 cases in 24 countries with a total case count of 122. The majority of cases (60%) have been reported from Saudi Arabia.

Since the virus was first identified in April 2019, clinicians have been on high alert for signs and symptoms in patients with severe acute respiratory illness (SARIs). According to the CDC, SARIs are a group of illnesses that can include colds, the flu, pneumonia, bronchitis, and even meningitis. In addition to fever and other respiratory symptoms, patients with COVID-19 may experience:

Swollen lymph nodes.
Fever over 38°C (>100°F).
Poor appetite or nausea.
Fatigue or feeling very tired.
Rash.
Conjunctivitis (red eyes).
Pneumonia could develop in some patients if their immune system is already weakened by another infection such as the common cold or RSV. If you think someone you know may have COVID-19, please contact your doctor immediately.

How is COVID-19 spread?

As of March 18, 2019, there are 41 confirmed cases and 15 probable cases of COVID-19 virus in people in 12 states. The virus is spread through close contact with respiratory secretions, such as saliva, mucus, or blood, from an infected person. Infected people may also spread the virus to others through contact with contaminated surfaces or materials.

People who are most likely to get sick from COVID-19 are those who work with or around people who have the virus. People who are elderly, pregnant women, or children under 5 years old are also at risk. Symptoms of COVID-19 infection include fever, sore throat, cough, and difficulty breathing. Most people recover without any serious consequences. However, some people may experience long-term health problems if they develop the virus.

The CDC is working hard to stop the spread of COVID-19 by informing people about how to avoid getting sick and by tracking the progress of the outbreak. Anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19 should visit their doctor immediately.

COVID-19 is spread through close contact with respiratory secretions, such as saliva, mucus, or blood. It can also be spread through contact with surfaces and objects that have been contaminated with the virus. Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. The virus can be fatal in some cases. There is no specific treatment for COVID-19. People who are infected should seek medical attention immediately.

What can I do to protect myself from COVID-19?

If you are concerned about exposure to COVID-19, there are a few things you can do to protect yourself. First and foremost, if you have been affected by the virus, seek medical attention as soon as possible. If you have not been affected by the virus, keep your symptoms to yourself. If you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms, see a doctor immediately. There is no specific vaccine or treatment for COVID-19, but taking steps to avoid getting sick will help protect you from serious health consequences. Here are some tips to help protect yourself:

Our Plans for COVID-19

Dear COVID Community,

Our plans for COVID-19 are progressing well. We have been working diligently to identify and prevent any potential outbreaks and we remain confident that we will be able to achieve our goals.

We have recently identified a new cluster of cases in Malaysia, which is raising our concerns. We are currently investigating this situation and will continue to update you as we learn more. Our priority is protecting the health of our patients and staff. We will update you again as soon as there is more information available.

In addition to our work on COVID-19, we are also closely monitoring other emerging infectious diseases such as MERS-CoV. Although it is too early to say for certain whether this virus will cause an outbreak, we are taking all necessary precautions in order to protect our patients and staff.

Thank you for your continued support. We truly appreciate it!

We are writing to let you all know that we have been hard at work preparing for COVID-19. We have completed our planning and are now ready to begin our response.

To start, we will be activating our emergency operations center (EOC) on Monday, August 6th. This will allow us to better coordinate our efforts and provide support to the field teams around the world. Additionally, we will be working closely with global health partners to help scale up our response as quickly as possible.

One of our top priorities is providing information to patients and their families about the virus. So far, we have released a fact sheet about COVID-19 and created an online resource for patients and families in need of support. We are also working on creating educational materials for health workers who may come into contact with COVID-19 patients.

In addition to responding to COVID-19, we continue to work on other important initiatives such as the global tuberculosis strategy and the WHO roadmap for preventing, managing and treating HIV/AIDS in children. Our team is committed to responding quickly and effectively to any disease threats around the world.

Conclusion

As we continue to investigate the COVID-19 outbreak, we wanted to update our staff on our status. As of this writing, there have been a total of 12 cases reported in association with this outbreak. Out of those 12 cases, 9 are confirmed and 3 are suspected. Our team is working diligently to identify the source of the virus and prevent its spread. We will continue to provide updates as they become available. Thank you for your continued support.

As you may have heard, there is currently an outbreak of COVID-19 in the United States. As a precautionary measure, we wanted to remind our staff that their status remains unchanged and they should continue to take all necessary precautions for their safety. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
